Abstract

This research explores scientific honesty in the era of generative artificial intelligence, analyzing the transformations that have affected the concepts of academic integrity and research responsibility amid the ongoing technological revolution. The study is based on the premise that generative AI tools, despite their unprecedented capabilities in facilitating knowledge production and improving research quality, raise serious ethical and epistemological challenges that strike at the core of scientific honesty—such as the difficulty of verifying content originality, the growing risks of plagiarism, and the unacknowledged reliance on algorithmic outputs. The research examines the conceptual dimensions of scientific honesty and highlights how AI has reshaped it within a digital environment where human responsibility intersects with technological agency. It proposes an approach grounded in transparency and disclosure as the two pillars for protecting academic integrity and ensuring trust in knowledge production. The study concludes that scientific honesty must now rest on an institutional ethical awareness guiding the relationship between researchers and technology in the age of algorithmic generation
